4 Simple Ways to Discover Your Creative Style and Stay Inspired

Hey, creative minds!

I’m excited to be here with Creative Biz Academy, sharing a topic that’s close to my heart: finding your own creative style. It's a question that comes up all the time, and let’s face it—nailing down a style that feels truly you can feel tricky. But I’ve got you covered! Here are my top four tips to help you stay inspired, keep your work fresh, and make sure it stands out.

If you want a bit more insight, I recorded a short video that digs a little deeper into each of these tips. (Trust me, it’s worth the four minutes!)

1. Skip the Wedding Stationery Searches

This might sound a little counterintuitive, especially if you’re diving into wedding stationery design, but hear me out! Looking at other wedding stationery for inspiration can sometimes lead to “accidental copying.” We all start to blend a little with what we see frequently, even if it’s subconscious.

So, what’s the fix? Get your inspiration outside your niche. Try interior design, textile art, or architecture, for example. You’ll be surprised by how much of you shines through when you pull from fresh sources that aren’t already saturated in the same world.

2. Look at Different Art Forms

Pinterest can be your best friend here—but not just for more stationery ideas! Lately, I’ve been falling down rabbit holes of French chateau interiors. It’s amazing how diving into other art forms can fill your brain with new colours, patterns, and textures. Explore the details in things like vintage fabrics, historical menus, or abstract sculptures. The goal is to give yourself visual fuel that feels new and different.

3. Get Into Reference Books

This one’s a bit of a treasure hunt! Reference books can be pure magic for finding inspiration that’s off the grid. I find these gems at charity shops and car boot sales, and trust me—they’re so worth the dig. I’ve got this fantastic book on tribal rugs that has the most vibrant colours and patterns. The beauty of these books is that the ideas you’ll find are one-of-a-kind and likely to be way more unique than anything a quick Google search can provide.

4. Keep a Sketchbook Handy

Here’s your permission slip not to be precious about your sketching! I personally use recycled paper and bargain-bin sketchbooks, which makes it easier to let loose and play. The point is to experiment and have fun—creativity doesn’t always happen on a perfectly clean page. Doodles, messy sketches, and happy accidents are all part of finding your style. Just go for it!

I hope these tips inspire you to explore, create, and trust your unique style. Got questions or need a nudge in the right direction? Drop me a message—I’d love to help!

And if you’re ready to dive deeper, my course, Wealthy Wedding Stationery, is here to guide you through the process of developing a signature style that’s unmistakably yours.

Can’t wait to see the beautiful things you create!
